Privacy Policy
Last updated October 23, 2026
Postage is a Mac email client made by Great Work LLC. The short version: your mail stays on your Mac and with your mail provider. We run no server that sees it, and the app has no analytics or telemetry.
Your email
- Postage connects directly from your Mac to your mail provider over IMAP and SMTP. Messages, attachments and the search index are stored in Postage's sandboxed container on your Mac.
- Account passwords and OAuth tokens are stored in your Mac's Keychain. They are never sent to us.
- We cannot read your mail, and we do not receive copies of it.
AI features
- Apple Intelligence runs on your Mac. Message content does not leave the device.
- Your own API key. If you add a key for Anthropic, OpenAI or an OpenAI-compatible service, Postage sends the text of the messages that a rule or summary is working on to that provider, from your Mac, using your key. Postage asks for your explicit consent before it does this the first time. That provider's terms and privacy policy govern what they do with it. Keys are stored in your Keychain.
- If you configure neither, no mail content is sent to any AI service.
The MCP server and agents
- Postage can run an MCP server for tools like Claude Code, Codex, Claude Desktop and Cursor. It listens on 127.0.0.1 (default port 47913) only. It is not reachable from other devices or the internet.
- Each client connects with its own token, stored in your Keychain, and you choose what it can access: read only, read and organize, or full. You can revoke a token at any time.
- When you connect an agent, the mail it reads is processed by that agent and the AI provider behind it, under that tool's own terms. Postage cannot control what a connected agent does with data it has been given, so connect only agents you trust and choose the lowest access level that does the job.
- Agents cannot send mail without a confirmation from you inside Postage.
What we do collect
- Purchases on this website. Stripe processes payment. We receive your email address and a record of the purchase so we can send you your download and handle refunds. We never see your card number.
- Update checks (direct download version). Sparkle fetches our appcast file periodically. Like any web request, this reveals your IP address and the app and macOS version to our server. The Mac App Store version has no Sparkle; Apple delivers updates.
- Launch list. If you give us your email to hear about the launch, we store it and use it only for that.
- Support email. If you write to us, we keep the conversation to help you.
- Mac App Store. Apple handles those purchases and shares limited information with us under its own policy.
This website uses no advertising or analytics trackers and sets no tracking cookies. Our web server may keep standard access logs for a short time for security and debugging.
Sharing
We do not sell your data. We share it only with the processors needed to run the store (Stripe for payments, our email provider for download and support messages) or when the law requires it.
Deleting your data
Removing an account in Postage deletes its local mail and Keychain items from your Mac. To delete the purchase or launch-list records we hold, email hello@greatwork.company.
Children
Postage is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes materially, we will update the date above. Questions: hello@greatwork.company. Great Work LLC, 651 N Broad St, Suite 206, Middletown, DE 19709.
