# How to Connect Claude to iCloud Mail

Claude's own email connector is for Gmail, so iCloud Mail needs an MCP server that speaks IMAP. Create an app-specific password for your Apple Account, add your @icloud.com, @me.com or @mac.com address to Postage with it, then connect Claude Desktop or Claude Code in Settings > Agents. Claude can then search, read, sort and draft in iCloud Mail.

## 1. Make an app-specific password

iCloud Mail doesn't accept your Apple Account password from other mail apps. It takes an app-specific password instead:

1. Sign in at account.apple.com.
2. Open **Sign-In and Security**, then **App-Specific Passwords**.
3. Create one named Postage and copy it.

Postage shows the same steps, with a button that opens your Apple Account, when you add an iCloud address.

## 2. Add iCloud Mail to Postage

Choose Add Account, enter your iCloud address and paste the app-specific password. Postage recognizes icloud.com, me.com and mac.com addresses and fills in Apple's servers:

iCloud Mail servers:

```
Incoming (IMAP): imap.mail.me.com, port 993, TLS
Outgoing (SMTP): smtp.mail.me.com, port 587, TLS
```

Your iCloud mail goes straight between your Mac and Apple. Postage has no server in between.

## 3. Connect Claude

- **Claude Desktop:** Settings > Agents in Postage, then **Install in Claude Desktop**, and confirm Claude Desktop's install dialog. No Node.js, no config file.
- **Claude Code:** Settings > Agents > Claude Code > **Copy Command**, then run it in Terminal.

Terminal:

```
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user postage http://127.0.0.1:47913/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_POSTAGE_TOKEN"
```

Full steps for both are in [How to connect Claude to your email on a Mac](https://postageformac.com/guides/connect-claude-to-your-email-mac). If you have Gmail or another account too, Claude sees all of them in one place and can work across them.

## Things to ask Claude about your iCloud mail

- "What did I get from Apple about my subscription renewals this year?"
- "Find the email with the hotel confirmation for March."
- "Archive every newsletter in my iCloud inbox older than two weeks."
- "Draft a reply to my sister's last email saying we'll be there Saturday."

What Claude can change depends on the access level you give it: Read only, Organize and draft, or Full (which adds moving mail to Trash). Replies it writes open in Postage for you to send.

## Questions

### Does Claude have an iCloud Mail connector?

Claude's built-in email connector is for Gmail through Google Workspace. For iCloud Mail, connect Claude to an MCP server that reads your mail over IMAP, such as the one in Postage.

### Why do I need an app-specific password?

Apple only lets other mail apps sign in to iCloud Mail with an app-specific password, not your Apple Account password. You can revoke it any time at account.apple.com.

### Does my iCloud mail go to a Postage server?

No. Postage connects to imap.mail.me.com and smtp.mail.me.com directly from your Mac. Mail reaches Claude only when Claude asks for it in a conversation you're having.

### Can Claude send from my iCloud address?

Claude can write the message and pick your iCloud account as the sender. It opens in a Postage compose window and goes out when you press Send.

Postage is $39 once, for macOS 14 Sonoma or later: https://postageformac.com/pricing
